For the past few years I have been working on ridding my house of all things toxic. It began when Cameron was 2. I started eating organic produce, buying from local, organic farms, cleaning with vinegar and baking soda and shopping at thrift and consignment stores rather than retail. That is just a glimpse.
I also changed the way I take care of my hair and skin. Did you know there are chemicals in a lot of skin and hair care products that are known carcinogens that cause cancer? Check out the Environmental Working Group's Cosmetic Safety Database. You can search by ingredient to find out if the makeup and skin care products you are using are safe.
You will see an overall hazard score from 0 to 10. Then, be sure to click on the product to see the disease implications of your ingredients. Even “natural,” “organic,” “pure,” “dermatology tested” and “Dr, recommended” products, and those with a low to moderate hazard score can contain nasty ingredients- parabens, PEGs, PPGs, triclosan, 1,4 dioxane, ‘s, formaldehyde, SLS, and hundreds of others. Consider the “body burden” of a lifetime of exposure to the toxic ingredients in these products. (From Ava Anderson website)
A friend has turned me on t Ava Anderson Non-Toxic. She sent me a lip gloss to try and I am hooked! The stuff is amazing and chemical-free.
"NO parabens¸ NO PEGs or SLS, NO synthetic “fragrance” (manufacturers can hide up to 600 ingredients in this “ingredient” without listing it on the label!) and No hidden ingredients or contaminants - NO phthalates, No nitrosamines, NO formaldehyde." (from Ava Anderson website)
She gave me one for you to try too! One lucky winner will receive a tube of Hot Chocolate Lip Gloss. Do not be shocked by the dark color in the bottle, this lip gloss has a hint of color and a lot of sheen!

Makeup is one place that I still need to work on going all natural. I am reticent on spending the money since some certain little girls usually end up playing dress-up with my makeup and it ends up in the trash. Maybe it's time to try and then I will just hide it away!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I follow you:-)
ReplyDeleteOoooh! I want a chance to win!!!! Fun! I love lipgloss!
ReplyDeleteI would like to try her medium foundation. Since foundation is something you put all over your face, I think it is worth going natural with it.
ReplyDeleteHmmm I have never heard of it. I will look into it. Very interested!
ReplyDeleteI would love to try the mineral foundation.
