I think we have all dreamed of a world beyond the rainbow where everything is sunshine and roses. I know I have. I also know that "there is no place like home." Lately I have wondered what makes home feel like "home". We have moved a couple of times in the last two years so I worry what effect it has on the kids. Then I read this quote by Maya Angelou that goes, "I long, as everybody does, to feel at home wherever I find myself." My kids know that there home is with me or their Dad and that they are safe and secure no matter what building they might be in at the time.
This year Prescott Park Arts Festival presents the Wizard of Oz! I have fond childhood memories of theater in the park. The one play I remember most is Grease. I think I was about 11 or 12 and I remember staring at Rizzo and Kenickie making out like mad up on stage. I was fascinated!
Nobody makes out in the Wizard of Oz, so it was safe to bring my kids. My Mom got to the park early to claim a spot. You have to get there really early. This is another thing I remember from my childhood. We would spread our blankets out and I would watch as the grass slowly disappeared before my eyes as more and more people showed up. I also remember stepping on my brother's fishing pole and getting the hook stuck in my toe. Ouch! I also remember waiting, and waiting and waiting for the show to start.
The waiting is the hardest part!

Cameron and Olivia really enjoyed the show. When Ms. Gulch first appeared she walked right past us which really frightened Olivia. Both were completely in awe during the whole show.
The sky was absolutely beautiful that night. I could not stop taking pictures of it. It was cool with a nice breeze which made the experience so much better. I love jeans and a sweatshirt!
I am already looking forward to next summer's show and I don't even care what it is!!

I really like this entry...I enjoy your perspective on how you compose your shots escecially the one that shows the show going on in the background...Wizard of Oz is one of my favorites...I would like to see it live like this.
