Awake

Snuggling sleepyheads at the hotel in Florida.

My children slept in this morning. It is rare in our house that Mommy can get out of bed and have a whole hour to herself before the kids wake up. At 7:30 I tiptoed upstairs to check to see if the kiddos were still breathing. Olivia must have just opened her eyes because I heard her sweet, quiet, morning whisper saying, "Hey buddy. Hey buddy." I peeked into the bedroom and she was curled up against Cameron who was sound asleep. Olivia was stroking her brother's hair and caressing his cheek saying, "Hey buddy. You awake?" Then she sat up and stretched and yawned and rubbed her eyes. She looked down at her feet and played footsie with herself. Then she leaned back over to brother and said again, "Hey buddy," and kissed him on the forehead. At this point I just couldn't hold myself back anymore. I had to hug and kiss this sweet little girl. I went into the room and she looked at me with the biggest smile and said, "Mommy. Me waked up!"

Yes, you did my baby girl. And so did I. Nothing in this world matters to me except for these precious memories we are making. I am so blessed!

  1. Don't those moments just...get you? Oh my goodness, everything that is done during the day, the night, every single moment wrapped up in those tiny little bodies. I love it when I hear my kids saying "I love you" to each other. It's so sweet to wake up to those little bodies tucked in so close to you...only to find yet another body tucked up to that one and on and on. We've actually had all 5 kids asleep in the bed with us...and it's only a queen!! We know that as uncomfortable as it is for us physically, these are moments we won't get back, we'll miss greatly, and will always be a memory to cherish. Isn't it great??? :)
