Swim Lessons Day 3

On Friday Cameron had his third swim lesson. My Mom had the day off so she slept over the night before so she could come to lessons with us. I always try to get to lessons at least a half hour early so that Cameron can play a bit and have a snack if he needs it. He also needs a few minutes to remind himself that he really loves the lessons and his teachers. My Mom spent some time running up and down the beach with Mia and Cameron while Benjamin and Olivia played in the sand. What's great about the beach lessons is that they close the beach to public swimming during lessons, so we pretty much share the beach with only a few other families at a time. They also freshly groomed the sand that morning which made it super fun for the kids to look at the footprints they were making in the sand!

Cameron needed a little prompting to go down to the water. For the first couple of minutes he is constantly checking to be sure I am still there, but after that he just has a blast. The air was cool on Friday with a breeze, so they practiced dunking and blowing bubbles before getting out and playing Duck, Duck, Goose! Cameron is really starting to understand the point of the game and is pretty quick to jump into the spot ahead of the person who is chasing him. He's really cute to watch. The funniest part is that when one of the kids is walking around he usually is playing in the sand and not paying any attention to the game, until one of the guards says, "Cameron, run!" He looks up and says, "What?" and then realizes what is going on and starts running.

Meanwhile, Olivia was still busy, now playing on the rescue surf board. Her new skill is stepping up onto things (low stairs and stools) without having to get down and crawl. And she is so proud of herself when she does it, she claps her hands and laughs out loud.

After they warmed up a little they got back in the water and dunked some more and pretended to be alligators. It's fantastic to see how comfortable Cameron is in the water this year compared to last year. Three more weeks of lessons!

  1. What a fun time! I'm sure Cameron is going to want to go to the lake every day now! Lucky you that it is so close! : )
