Celebrating Our Independence

Damien and I have never been to fireworks together in our 5 1/2 years of marriage. After Cameron was born we never thought it a great idea to drag him out past his bedtime to possibly scare him out of his mind. So, what made this year so different? Well, I don't know. But we decided to try. The Town of Brentwood puts on a fantastic display right in the parking lot of my Dad's work. We got there about an hour before the scheduled start and Olivia was way overtired. Cameron had just barely awoke from his nap, so he was OK. Olivia was getting out of control, so I found a space between two cars where she couldn't get distracted and started to nurse her. She fell asleep almost instantly. I went back to the
blanket to lie down and Cameron took these photos of all of us. He's so great with the camera. When the fireworks started he was interested, but after a few minutes he wanted to leave. My Dad took him into his work where he watched the show with my Dad's co-workers from a third-floor window. I had a hand over Olivia's exposed ear and she never flinched and stayed asleep the whole time. The display really was fantastic! What a wonderful Independence Day!

  2. I'm so bummed, we go to the nursing home every year for fireworks and decided not to this year because the kids were exhausted! Glad you had a good time and hope to see you soon!
