Saturday - Party Preparation

Saturday was extremely busy. Damien had to work, and I had to get food ready for the party. My mother-in-law came over to help make the cupcakes. My parents came in the morning to help with the kids and to provide extra hands in the kitchen. But first, Kim and I went to the Laconia Community Center and signed up Mia and Cameron for preschool swim lessons. We got there early because we thought we would have to wait in line, but it only took about two minutes. They will both be having lessons at Bond Beach on MWF starting July 7, and it only cost $15. I can't wait! Then, Kim and I took advantage of Tom being home with all four kids and hit the organic plant sale at Sunflower. Then we decided to go to Terra Perma where I got Damey a stainless steel water bottle. Then we went to a new store called Sustainability where I bought all of the paper goods for Olivia's party. They were all made out of corn and 100% biodegradable, even if put in a landfill (says the owner). I bought biodegradable garbage bags as well.

Then it was time to bake. I'm not a baker, and I actually don't enjoy it all too well, but I had the support of Kim and Mrs. Sevin and of course the two toddlers were a big help! I put my mother-in-law to work making the frosting and helping to decorate. My Mom got in on the action too. Kim provided moral support from the computer room (just kidding:) She helped me by calling Baby Bungalow and making sure Olivia's gift would be held form me!

The cupcakes came out better than I expected! Thank you everyone for all your help and hard work!

Then my Mom and I took Olivia to Concord to pick up her gift. We stopped at a little bakery and had sandwiches. I had tomato basil and mozzarella, my mom had a chicken sandwich and Olivia had quiche. It was her first time using a fork and she did really well. She also picked up a napkin between bites and wiped her face! It's like she turned into a big girl overnight...

When we got home we got back to work cooking potato salads, pasta salads and making other delicious treats for the party. Nathan, Jennifer and Evelyn arrived around 9:30 p.m. and we ate pizza and had a very late night!

  2. Hey, I'll provide moral support any time! Haven't you heard the expressions "too many cooks spoil the pot"? I didn't want to steal anyone's thunder! ha ha ha.
