Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes

You thought I was going to say "Ch-ch-ch-chia" didn't you? Have you seen the commercial for the Obama Chia? I can't figure out if the commercial is trying to be so serious that it's funny, or if they really are serious.

Anyway, back to my blog post. There has been a pretty major change around here, which is why I have been a blog slacker. I missed two WIP Wednesday posts, and I'm not sure if I'll get around to my Ten Things Thursday post or not. We have a new baby in our house. No, you didn't miss anything, he is not mine. The school year has begun and I am watching the baby of a school teacher. He is precious. Five months old, easy going, smiley (even when you change his diaper, imagine that!) drinks his bottles, sleeps.

My two children are adapting better than I imagined they would. My son, who happens to share a name with the new addition, adores the wee one. He dotes on him, helps me change his diaper, hugs him, plays with him and doesn't seem jealous when I have to tend to him. My daughter, who I was a little worried about, seems to be adjusting well. She gives the baby gentle touches, finds baby toys for him to play with, throws the wet diapers in the trash for me. Most of the time, though, she plays with her brother or does puzzles or colors with me. And all three children are supervised (imagine that) and the baby gets his diaper changed every 1-3 hours (again, imagine that!) I don't know how I do it. Oh, yes I do. I'm a Mommy and I've done it before. Gosh, I should give myself a little more credit.

We have even been getting out of the house every day this week, so that the kids are exposed to more than just our living room walls! On Monday we went to the playground, Tuesday the beach, Wednesday Open House at my son's pre-school and today we are going to the library. My darling husband took my two children out to run errands, so it's just the baby and I, and I'm loving it. Right now he is sound asleep, snuggling against me in the Ergo. I think I'll even be able to get a few chores accomplished before he wakes up and my family comes home.

There is still a little room in my day for knitting and sewing, but only sparse moments here and there. I'm sure that once we are settled into a routine and my son is at school two days a week, I might be able to knit a few rows here and there. But until then, I am perfectly content with the changes in the house.
