I read or hear stories from other parents about embarrassing moments when their children have repeated something they said. It usually happens in public, or in front of a grandparent, or your boss; the place you most want it not to happen. I try to remind myself and Damien, and other adult influences in Cameron’s life, of how much information Cameron retains. Even when you think he is not listening, he definitely is. Well, for all the reminding I have done, I only have myself to blame for this one:
Last night, Cameron, Olivia and I were at Kim, Tom, Mia and Ben’s house for a play date. We were all in the living room and Mia ran over to Cameron and yelled “Hi Cameron!” or something to that effect. Cameron calmly removed her arm from around his shoulder and stepped away from her. Then, he said, just as calmly, “Mia, you scared the crap out of me.” Jaw dropped, my mind racing, “Where did he pick that up?” But before I could stop it I just started laughing. Tom, Kim and Mia were laughing as well, so I didn’t feel too bad. I couldn’t even think of what to say to him, because I know he got that from me.
Lesson learned. If that’s the worst he repeats, I guess we are doing a good job.
Oh my goodness, so funny! Gotta love what they come out with. They are always listening aren't they? Especially when we don't want them to be!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh :)
