With my niece visiting, there is always a trip to the bookstore. She is a book-aholic and so are my kids. We spent over an hour there reading, and selecting new books for the kids library. Now, on my list of things to do, I need to go through their library and weed out some old ones. We could open our own bookstore!! Today we got "Cat in the Hat", "The Grouch Ladybug", an "Encyclopedia Brown" chapter book (loved these as a kid), a Jan Brett book "Fritz and the Beautiful Horses", a Tomie DePaola book "The Knight and the Dragon", a Skippyjohn Jones book (strange) and a few others I cannot think of off the top of my head. It was a great day for the print industry ;)
Oh wow, I LOVE encyclopedia brown. And, we just returned the Knight and the Dragon to the library...we loved it!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the book recommendations. We love Magic Tree House around here but are devouring chapter books like crazy, so I'm glad to have some other suggestions. I'm going to look into those Encyclopedia Brown books.
ReplyDeleteLove it... we LOVE books too!! We can spend so much time at the bookstore or library. I think it's so good when kids have a healthy appetite for reading! :)

Reading is the BEST thing in the world for everyone, especially kids! Great shot.
ReplyDeleteI'm sooooooo glad that the printed word is receiving your support! I can't wait to expand Lincoln's (and my own) library after we move!
ReplyDeleteLove it! We're huge book lovers too :-)
ReplyDeleteWe love books too. Bookstores can be a dangerous place for my pocketbook. Check out the website www.storylineonline.net it has popular books read by different actors/actresses. My daughter loves it.
ReplyDeleteI'm a BIG book person too, and am trying to help my kids follow in my footsteps. If you read aloud to her, every day, it will go a long way towards her staying a book lover. :)
