Day 82 - Little Lambs

First, for those who asked, the tooth fairy brings two half-dollar coins.  That's it.  How do I explain this to Cameron when his friends are getting $10 bills and big elaborate gifts?  I explained that a tooth fairy is assigned a family and our tooth fairy asked me what she should give.  We did also get him a small toy, but from us, and only for his very first tooth.  His half dollars are his to use or save.  I think he will come to appreciate it.

On to Day 82.  I should have done joy of LOVE, as the theme was "When They Are Home" because in our house, it is very very special when Daddy is home.  But, when he is home we do a lot of things we do not usually get to do when he is away.  We take advantage of the extra parent and get out and do fun stuff.  Today we visited a local sheep farm to see the newborn lambs.  The lighting was not the greatest, so my shot is not as clearly focused as I would have liked.  Or maybe it's just me and I stink at focus... But, I captured the moments anyway, and eventually as the year goes on I will capture the moment, and do it well all in the same shot!

This is the photo I chose for 365.  I like the composition on this one and he is just so cute!

Olivia wore her sheep hat in honor of the day.  She has had this hat for two years or more, and I just love it!

This little guy is runner up for 365.  I love how his ears just stick straight out and I like the DOF on this shot, even though the ISO makes it a little too grainy.

Also today, we Skyped with my brother Wit in Iraq.  He has been gone for almost five months now.  I miss him a lot.  My parents joined us and had a nice conversation. We miss him sooooooo much!

  3. Hey can your brother get mail? Are there others in his unit who are recovering? We were going to have the nieces and nephews make cards for troops at our playdate this month... Email me if you want to set it up for them to go to him! :) bloggybranson(at)gmail(dot)com :)

  4. First of all, we will pray for your brother! That has to be tough being so far away! Please, sincerely thank him for his service from our family! We've taught the kids to always thank soldiers when you see them. (even though they're a little shy about it) You never know what they've gone through or will go through just for us!
Second, CUTE lamb photos! LOVE them both!!

  5. Ditto to what Kara said so well. We are blessed to have men and women like him who have devoted themselves to protecting us and our freedom, so for that I can't thank him enough, and I do hope that all turns out well for him.

I used to raise sheep (pre kids), so these shots brought back memories of days gone by. Baby sheep are so very adorable! Cute shots and glad you all got to spend some quality time with Dad.

  7. I am so sorry to hear about what happened to your brother and others. It must be very hard to be so far away from him right now.

$10??? I didn't realize the tooth fairy over-exceeded inflation by that much!

The first little lamb picture is really cute. I didn't think it was real at first.

  8. $10??? Ariana has always gotten 4 quarters. Who gives $10 or elaborate gifts? And why? I have not heard of this from my kids yet and I hope I don't have to deal with it.

My thoughts are with you and your brother.
