Swim Lesson Update

Well, it's the last week of swim lessons. It figures, it's the first week of sun and summer weather too! We have really been enjoying our mornings and afternoons at the beach, especially now. I am even thinking of continuing our daily beach routine after swim lessons are over. Every morning after our daily walk and visit with my friend MzChef and her darling boy Beastie, we go home and get ready for the beach. While the children play, I am busy packing a nice nutritious lunch. Then we get all lathered up with sunscreen, put on our bathing suits and head to the beach.

This week Cameron has improved by leaps and bounds. On Monday he was holding his nose and barely getting his whole head wet when he dunked under. On Tuesday he was holding his nose and staying under the water for five seconds or longer. I mean all the way under! It actually scared me the first time I saw him do it. Then he did it again and started swimming under the water. It is truly amazing! Today he was dunking and swimming without holding his nose. By the end of the summer I really think this kid will be swimming.

Olivia is improving in the water as well. She is not taking lessons, but she watches her brother and wants to do what he does. She goes out to about her thighs, turns toward the shore and dives into the water, keeping her head above it, and then starts crawling toward shore. "I swimmin' Mama!"

We stay for lunch and then we swim some more before heading home for naps. Naps go much smoother after an entire morning at the beach. Cameron has made some friends and is having a wonderful time. I will be sad to see the lessons come to an end.
