The Last Few Days

On Thursday Damien left for a fishing trip to Lake Ontario with my brothers and my Dad. So, it was just the three of us (Cameron, Olivia and I) in the evenings and mornings. We have such a routine in our house in the evenings, and I didn't want it to be disrupted by the fact that Daddy was not there. So I became the Daddy and the Mommy. Friday night we ordered pizza (that's a Daddy thing). Then we took a bath (mostly a Mommy thing). Of course, I had to clean up after dinner (lately a Daddy thing since he is home again in the evenings). Then it was time to build a bridge. This is a Daddy invention. We take all the cushions off the couch and chair and build a bridge from one to the other. Both of the children LOVE this. Cameron runs across the bridge and pretends there are alligators in the "water". He makes us point them out so that he can get in the water and swim around them to the other side. Olivia just crawls back and forth between the two in the "water" (alligators don't seem to bother her). Then we built a castle with the cushions. Cameron really enjoys climbing onto the roof. Olivia is really into imitating her brother and while Cameron's bravery and daredevil stunts are new at three years old, I'm afraid for Olivia it will come much sooner.

Nana was here on Saturday morning and we took a nice long walk to Water Street Cafe. Olivia and Cameron rode in the wagon. It made me sad that she enjoyed it so much because I'm so used to carrying her in the sling. After breakfast we walked to Terra Perma and then to the river at the Belknap Mill. The tulips were blooming and I took a bunch of photos of the kids (mostly Olivia as Cameron was running too fast). We were out in the beautiful sun and fresh air for about 2.5 hours. It felt so wonderful, but we really missed Damien and wished he could have been with us. I know how much he misses the kids when they are not with him, so I made this video so he could see what we were up to. The first song seems like a strange choice, but it is the ring tone on his phone when I call and I love it!

So, here you go Damey. I missed you and I love you and I'm so glad you are home.
